كليفورد گيرتز

كليفورد جيمس گيرتز (و. 23 أغسطس 1926 سان فرانسيسكو - ت. 30 أكتوبر، 2006، فلادلفيا)، هو أنثروپولجي أمريكي اشتهر لدعمه القوي وتأثيره في الأنثروپلوجيا الرمزية، والذي اعتبر 'على مدى ثلاثة عقود .. أكثر الأنثروپولوجيين المؤثرين ثقافيا في المجتمع الأمرييكي'[1]. عمل حتى وفاته أستاذ فخري في معهد الدراسات المتطورة، پرنستون.
