جيمس جورج فريزر

جيمس جورج فريزر James George Frazer(1854 – 1941م). عالم اسكتلندي متخصّص في علم الإنسان. يتتبّع في عمله الشهير الغصن الذهبي تطور أديان العالم، وكتب أيضًا الطوطمية؛ الأباعد؛ الفن الشعبي في السفر القديم؛ انحرافات في نمو المؤسسات؛ مجموعة مختارات أدبية خاصة بعلم الإنسان.

ولد فريزر في جلاسجو، وتعلم في جامعتي جلاسجو وكمبردج، وكان مدرّسًا لعلم الإنسان الاجتماعي في جامعة ليفربول في إنجلترا. ترك كتابه الغصن الذهبي أثرًا بارزًا على تطور الآداب الأوروبية الحديثة. كما أن أثر الكتاب انتقل إلى لغات أخرى بعد ترجمته، ومنها اللغة العربية، حيث ترجم الكاتب الفلسطيني جبرا إبراهيم جبرا أحد أجزائه في الخمسينيات من القرن العشرين.
