جورج أندرو ج. ماكاي (George Andrew J. وُلِد ماكاي في هامرسميث، لندن، لوالدته كيم بيكر، مصممة أزياء بريطانية من لندن، ووالده پول ماكاي، أسترالي يعمل في مجال الإضاءة وإدارة المسارح. نشأ في بارنز مع شقيقته الصغرى.[5][6][7][8] وهو من أصل أيرلندي من جهة والدته، وجدته من جهة والدته من كورك.[9]

التحق ماكاي بمدرسة هاروديان الخاصة في لندن.[10] عندما كان عمره 17 عامًا، تقدم لاختبار القبول في الأكاديمية الملكية للفنون المسرحية وأكاديمية لندن للموسيقى والفنون المسرحية، لكنه فشل في ذلك.[11]

حياته الشخصية

في نوفمبر 2023، تزوج ماكاي من صديقته دون فورسيث، وهي خبيرة تجميل ومصففة شعر، وأنجب منها طفلين. التقى الزوجان في موقع تصوير فيلم 1917. [12]

في أوائل يناير 2023، كان ماكاي واحدًا من نحو 100 شخصية مشهورة في المملكة المتحدة وقعوا على رسالة إلى الحكومة تطالبها باتخاذ "إجراء فوري" ضد عمليات الإعدام في إيران.[13]
