في الاقتصاد، التقشف Macroeconomics، هو سياسة تتبعها الحكومات بهدف الحد من الإسراف وزيادة الإنفاق على السلع الاستهلاكية، والعمل على مضاعفة الإنتاج وتشجيع الادخار، عند حدوث الأزمات الاقتصادية. أحيانا ما تتبع الدول سياسة التقشف قبل حدوث الأزمات الاقتصادية، أو عند الخروج من الحروب وكذلك في حالات الدول حديثة النشأة.
